Update, by the numbers

I don't know where the time has gone. It's already mid-June, and I don't know how that happened...oh wait...yes I do...

1. This week is finals week. I am going into my anatomy and physiology final with an A. Let's hope I come OUT of my final with the same.

2. Ethan and I went to the zoo last week. It was fun.

3. Today I signed up for job number 4. Well, in employment terms, it's only my second job...but throw in student and mom...I got the job with the VA hospital and it's a veteran's work study job, so it'll be VERY flexible.

4. I'm throwing my cousin, Heidi, a bridal shower. That shindig is going down in a couple of weeks.

5. I'm also putting together her bachelorette party. We're having a Pure Romance party. Should be HILARIOUS!!

Ok, so that actually doesn't look like much "on paper" but seriously we've been busy. I really wish we were busy with interesting things worthy of writing about....but we just don't roll that way.

"Aren't you going to take a shower this morning, mom? cause you have pokeys on your legs."

Adventures with Ethan

Yesterday I was asking Ethan what he wanted to do on the one week off that I have between quarters at school...

Me: Ethan what should we do when Mom's done with school for a week?

Ethan: Ummmmm. Go on an adventure!

Me: Ok, what kind of adventure??

Ethan, after thinking for a second: A BEAR hunt!!

Me: A bear hunt??!?? (What the??)

Ethan: No! A deer hunt!

Me: Welllll....what are we going to do with the deer when we find it??

Ethan: EAT it!! (duh mom)

Me: But I don't know how to cook a deer.

Ethan: Dat's ok, first you talk to the giant and see if you can borrow his pan so the deer will fit into it. (obviously).

Me: How about we go to a big zoo up in Seattle and maybe an aquarium too?

Ethan: Ok! That sounds fun!!

Thank goodness. Now I don't have to hunt down a giant and borrow any of his kitchen gear.

Me: Very good, Ethan! Now, what's 3 + 5?

He thinks about it for a second...

I've been seeing lots of mommybloggers doing this with their 3-5 year olds, and I thought it'd be fun to do with Ethan...I don't think he really thought it was fun. But he got over it. I might do this in 6 months or a year, just to see how his answers change. He'll love that, I'm sure.

Early Mother's Day

On Tuesday, I got a mother's day card from Ethan. Which was suprising, I had no idea he had any clue about the postal system! Actually, last weekend my dad took him to pick out his first bike, and apparently they made a stop to pick a singing card for me. The card itself? Really anoying. But the gesture was so cute. And Ethan kept a complete secret! Today was a different story.

I had to head to campus to turn in my photography assignment, so Ethan stayed with my cousin, Heidi and my Aunt Sandra. But as soon as I got home Ethan brought me a frame that he painted for me that says "I Mom." He painted it green (his favorite color) and pink. There was also a card that he made with a photo of him in it.

Mother's day is so fun now that Ethan knows what it's about. He really gets into making special projects for people- he has such a sweet spirit and loves to make people happy. That warms my heart more than anything.

A Full Weekend of Nothing

Have you ever had a weekend that felt like you didn't accomplish ANYTHING? Until you think back over that time and realize, "Hey I got a lot done...it just didn't feel like it." Well that was this last weekend for me.

I really didn't feel productive at all...but

• I colored my hair (getting rid of 2 inch roots! Finally!)
• did oodles of laundry,
• got some studying in,
• reorganized the kitchen drawers,
• played Yatzee with Ethan,
• took Ethan to my parents house so he could go with Popop to get his first bike
• caught up on shows that I force my parents DVR to record
• did yoga
• read the Flat Belly Diet book (which my aunt, cousin and I are embarking on starting this week)
• Planned my cousin's bridal shower and bachelorette par-tay
• and nursed Ethan's foot after he stepped on a tiny shard of glass

So that's quite a bit of stuff...and now it's Monday and I just don't really know what to do with my time! That never happens.

I get an F in Update your blog 101

So I know. I've slacked on keeping up with this thing. Not that I haven't thought about it. I have. Really!

We just got back from the local home and garden show, where Ethan got to plant a bell pepper plant, make a peanut butter bird feeder, and sit on a tractor. Oh and he got to thoroughly annoy the sauna guy by....SITTING in a sauna...that wasn't on. I know. What an awful child. If I had actually been considering the purchase of one, I wouldn't have based on the way Ethan was treated.

Anyhow, that was enough fun for a Saturday- now I have to get back to homework and studying. Next week is shaping up to be a real fun one. There's my anatomy and physiology lecture exam and lab practical. Then there's the two page paper due for photography. And statistics homework. Fortunately I am only working one day next week.

That boy is silly

This morning I was tickling Ethan. While he was laughing so hard he could hardly breathe he said "I'm not ticklish mama! Are you?"

Maybe you had to be there. It was funny. Trust me.

Finally. My own blog.

Maybe this one will stick. It's about the third one I've started. This time it's a little different, now I'm operating on that new-fangled thing called high-speed internet!

Ethan says hilarious things on a daily basis and this way I can share those things with you. I, on the other hand do not have time to say hilarious things. Funny is Ethan's job. My job is to...study assist the dentist study give Ethan a bath study, and study some more.

I'm taking 12 credits this quarter- consisting of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Statistics, Digital Photography, and just to give me that 12th credit- Tone and Trim.

Work is still going really well- I'm down to only working 1.5 days a week, but most weeks I end up at work for one thing or another almost every day. Go figure.

So right now I'm in fact avoiding homework. I have stacks and stacks of things to read and math to do and pictures to take. Only six hours left until my math homework is due...I should probably start on that!
